With an early background at sea serving in the Royal Navy as a marine engineer and later as a sub-sea marine warranty surveyor, I later transitioned into industrial sales. During this time I was directly involved with supplying solar, timber, and steel and gained direct exposure to how fragmented and opaque procurement can be.
STEX was conceived after being approached to sell steel at heavily discounted rates that ultimately proved unsustainable, highlighting systemic inefficiencies in the market. That experience led to the creation of a platform focused on transparency, fair pricing, and improved access for both buyers and suppliers.
